I'm changing my wishbones on my mk4 golf and te bolt torque settings are
between 30/70 nm and have mis placed the sodding torque wrench, do you
reckon if I do them up really tight on the socket it should be fine ?

Also do you need to get the tracking done after changing wishbones ?

If you leave the guide joint in place then not. But it's easier to remove
the three bolts and slide it out of the wb. In that case you could mark the
position but I found out that even a slide mis there causes the steering
wheel/tracking to be offset.
Just tighten the bolt really good, 70nm is 7kg/m = about 17kg on a 40cm
long wrench.
