Ask on here for someone local to you http://vwt4.forumsplace.com/
Then find someone with VAG-COM and an interface lead and get the codes read
(seriously buy these yourself as it will save you ££££).

Had this on my T4 also - Worked around it by tweaking the idle adjusting
screw (a real fiddly job it was too!). Left it feeling gutless in the mid-
throttle positions, but at least it was driveable.

Later took it to the local VW wagon service place and they couldn't find
any fault, other than the CO level was too low. They tweaked that up and
now everything runs fine, but I don't know why the problem suddenly
appeared and suspect there is an air leak somewhere.

The Brooklands one is adequate, but buy direct as it will be cheaper than
fleabay or the like.

Ebay for the lead (about £25), shareware version of VAG-COM 409.1 free at :

thanks for advice
checked vacuum hoses, quite bunged up
small box on back of throttle unit clicks and
continues after stall and ignition switch off
local dealer poor, will try a few more things
before diagnosticks
tickover just stopped instantly after short stop
no warning, thought it might be electronic
does anyone know of any audi with simillar
engine management on 5 cylinder 2.5l petrol?
