My son's 97 Golf had a new clutch put in but we haven't got the car back from the garage. The problem is that when you come to a stop sign, the car stops for no particular reason. It starts back up and then perhaps it won't do it at the next stop but another one. It's driving the mechanic mad (as well as my son because he doesn;t have his car!). The mechanic said that he had disconnected the battery for several days so maybe it's electrical in nature? He does not get any error codes. Any suggestions? |

Can you be a little more specific on the type of Golf (engine, model)? I know that this particular fault exists with the Simos-based (Simos ECU) Golf GTI. It could be an air-bypass valve, or even coolant temperature sender. Cheers T.A. |
