The manual that comes with the pressure guage may have an
illustratiron. Your Bentley or your Bosch Fuel Injection handbook by
Probst will have some illustrations. The Bentley will have actually
values. Both books have troubleshooting procedures.
RTFM? Yeah, I'll do that. It's at the shop, and I'm at the office.

I could not figure out a way to check the pressure. Where can I attach a
gauge?

I have not done this, but one place to do it would be in line with the
supply line to the pressure regulator, using some sort of adapter. If
the blockage is in the fuel pressure regulator, the pressure you measure
should be the max. the pump can supply, i.e. higher than normal
operating pressure. Random thoughts on my part, no factual knowledge
claimed.

Dan Myers
I replied to your very helpful email, but it bounced with "No

Can you elaborate a bit on the coolant temp sensor?

It's all in the Bentley.

If you have it, read it.

If you don't have it, buy it.

Got the Bentley
Ran out of patience and time.
Jetta is in the trailer, soon to be deposited at the shop.
Thanks for all the help.
I'll post results if anyone is interested.
