Default Please help car doesn't want to drive. - 07-16-2003 , 01:25 AM

Getting to the end of my VR swap and as of now I have one issue left, (as of
now I said) so the car starts right up idles pretty good for the most part,
but when I hit the gas it doesn't want to respond (kind of a big pause) but
if you gradually give it gas it does pretty good till about 3grand, and if
you try and drive it same thing you can go nice and easy but give it gas and
it's like the fuel got turned off, and I don't think you can get it up
beyond that 3 grand mark even taking it easy, and I know it's getting fuel,
I also have a Walbro fuel pump installed. Just looking for something else I
could check thanks.

It sounds like the engine doens't have the power it needs.
Had a similar problem twice (not in a VW), first it was the air intake valve
that got stuck, the second time the computer screwed up.
Also had a problem with a car that couldn't go full throttle, that had to do
with the vacuum that regulated the spark advance.
IOW:
- Check fuel pressure
- Check air intake
- Check spark timing (especially for spark advance at higher rev's)

Well I got two errors, one MAF, and the second Oxygen sensor, this got me
thinking I have yet to finish my exhaust I have the downpipe installed but
it's not hooked up to the cat, thats where it still needs to be reconected,
so I'm wondering if this could be the problem, I was planning on driving to
the exhause shop to get it welded but I can drive it the way it is.
