Default 93 MV 2.5 - 11-12-2006 , 08:39 PM

I wonder if anyone has the answer...I just got this van and it appears
to lack serious get up and go. Compared to my 86 Volvo sedan wit the
2.3 four cylinder, it seems rather lack luster. When it is in drive it
can't make 40mph on a hill? Also to get upto 65mph seems to take an
eternity? I wondered if perhaps the CATALYTIC convertor is plugged? Our
Volvo's CAT became plugged with a baseball sized sphere which caused it
to act like it had no power. What's the test for a dead cat? The
shifter on the floor refuses to be shited into 3, 2, or 1? There is a
broken piece of plastic on the shiter cover which seems to be jamming
it up? I have really heard that the audi 2.5 is a very reliable engine,
this one has 178K on it. Oh yes, there's a lot of vibration in idle
while in D, what's that all about? I am thinking of passing this one
on, it's a weekender...pop top.

Get an '03 Westfalia with the VR6 and these issues will go away.

For the power, check for a clogged cat and/or correct ignition timing. The
2.5 is no rocket but it should do better than that.

To get to 3, or 2 I believe you do NOT push the button...just move the lever
w/o pressing the button. To go from 2 to 1 you DO push the button. Are you
doing this correctly?
