US models had 45mm offset. Some European Mk3's had 38mm.
It should be printed somewhere on the rim.

I Have a 1996 vw jetta
I run 195/50/r15 with 15" wheels
I would recommend getting 16" with 195/50/r16 because I would have
if I didn't get such a good deal on 15"s.
