Default Replacing Driver Seat Cushion for 96 Jetta - 04-13-2004 , 07:43 AM

Hi,

The cushion for the lower part of my drivers seat in my 96 Jetta has
given out. I want to replace it, but was unsure of the best approach.
Should I attempt to replace the foam myself or is this something the
dealer should do? Would it be best to just find a new or used seat?

Any advice you can provide is greatly appreciated. My arse is really
sore.

VW must have really cut corners on these seats! I also have a '96 Jetta with
85K on it and the foam is worn right down to the metal framework ! The
seats in my 85' Jetta, '87 Jetta, and '87 Golf are all very firm with each
car having over 160K. I have had a lot of luck with "The Parts Place" (888)
432-3548 Auburn Hills, MI. in the past and I'm going to give them a call. In
their catalog, they were recommending using a used passenger seat to replace
the driver's side because it has less wear on it.
