Default window recalls? - 06-04-2005 , 09:42 PM

I know this is probably old old news for most of you, but my
daughter has a 99 VW New Beetle and she is having window problems.

Evidently they are off the track at the moment and won't roll up. But I have
paid for
window motors quite a while ago when the car was almost new.

Can anyone explain what the window recalls are so I don't have to take the
dealers
word for it?

Thanks!!

Why shouldn't you take the dealers words, that's why they are there. The
update is for the regulators and not the motors and they are under warranty
for up to 7 years!

Woodchuck.

No offense ment but the dealer is the one who charged him the first time. I
know VOA is the problem but customers must deal with the dealer and he's
already been burned on the poorly designed window regulators once. Why
should he not verify what the dealer might tell him? And it was not a recall
and VW only extended the warranty on them because there was a class action
suit against them. This time lawyers were more upstanding then VOA :-) If VW
is going to be successfull in the US they must learn from the Japs and
resolve problems like window regulators and tdi maf problems in a better
manner. Just having good cars is not enough, they must stand behind them
when things happen.

rant off

I shouldn't take the dealers word, because I have had more
than one experience in the past where one dealer denied that my
Ford Taurus 3.8 V6 with 60K miles and just out of warranty,
had the very common head gasket leak. (which requires a $1600 minimum
fix if it hasn't ruined your engine entirely)

A delaer (the one I bought it at.) insisted it wasn't under warranty. I
took it to another dealer,
he entered my VIN, showed me the sheet that said it WAS covered and then
scheduled an
appointment for me. I have had numerous other dealers avoid and deny
coverage that should have
been covered.

Are you really so naive that you think all dealers are ethical and honest?
Be real!

I've already had the motors replaced and they've nevered offered to refund
my
money even though I'm still having the same problems. Any suggestions on
that?
