Default 1993 940 blinker ...... help please.... - 08-17-2006 , 09:17 AM

my 93 940 has a right blinker that blinks aprox twice as fast as
normal...at first, i thought i had a bulb out, as the front amber
blinker was not flashing, the rear was...at the faster speed...
when i activate the left signal, all is normal and it blinks a normal
speed.....sooo.....i thought i would just change out the blub and
everything would be back to normal...no joy...i swapped out the
bulb and got the same results...i then wiggled and re set the bulb
a few times and discovered, if i twisted the bulb just so...the
blinking
went from fast to normal speed, and the bulb started light up..so i
fig it must be a ground or connector issue in the front, right
headlight
basket or lens assy.....now...threed days into the problem...the
blinker
started going double speed again.....i twisted and wiggles the bulb
coller with no joy...now...the problem seems to have moved to
another gremblen......should i swap out the actual blinker relay
near the fuses?...or does it sound like a ground issue that should
be chased some other way??...thanx for any help...electrics is
not my cup of tea.........

Sounds like you have poor contact inside the socket. Take the bulb out,
clean everything with a small circular wire brush and check for loose
wire, contacts, etc. Sometimes the light sockets are replaceable and
sometimes they are integrated into the light housing. I'm not sure
which is the case for the 940 front turn signals.

Often the seals fail on lights and water gets inside the housing which
then corrodes the socket. Hard to say how bad yours is without seeing it!

the 93 940 has the twist and remove socket...i guess
that makes sense to chase the problem there at the
socket rather than back at the relay.....is the fast
or double speed flashing a indication of a bad ground?
