Hi all, Just wondering if there's an easy way of figuring whether my 760GLE V6 (December 1987) is equipped with ABS or not? I've just been quoted a figure for new rotors (yeah, they're warped). ABS type were nearly 3 times as much as non-ABS. I know the service plate will show caliper type, but is there any hardset rule to indicate a certain brand = ABS? Either that or any info relating to obvious visual cues that don't involve removing a road wheel would be much appreciated. Oh, and I don't particularly like the idea of slamming the brakes on to see if they lock, either... Thanks in advance, Andy. (New Volvo owner and loving it!) |

Every car with ABS I've seen has an ABS warning light on the instrument panel. The system does a self-test when you start the car, and the light then goes out. No ABS light probably means no ABS. Also, I *think* Volvo started offering ABS in 1990, but I'm not sure. |

All 700s from the time it was first offered have the ABS light, and a glow plug light, and the two different (auto/manual) overdrive lights, and the SRS light, they used the same instrument cluster in all the models, however the unused lights shouldn't come on during the self test. |
