Default Air conditioning needs to be charged... - 05-30-2009 , 06:24 PM

Hello all,

Our 1998 V90 Wagon is in dire need of an A/C recharge. Can anyone
share with me which line I need to attach the canister to and where it
is located? I have done this on other cars, but never on this one. I
see, when I lift the hood, a long line with a cap on the left hand
side in a very exposed and easy to reach spot. Is that the line? Or is
it somewhere else.

It's getting warm here in the ATL so any help is appreciated.

The recharge port is located very close to the passenger side headlight
housing in the hood it is a small black cap remove the cap & you can
attempt to recharge your ac but be aware that your model is known to
have evaporator failures so even if you are able to recharge your ac &
it blows cold it is a temporary fix until you can have your ac system
checked by either your local Volvo dealer or your local Volvo specialist

You need to find the leak or it will just leak out again. Eventually the
oil will leak out too and the compressor will seize.

Also if the system has become completely empty, air will have been drawn
in and it has to be pumped down to a vacuum and the receiver/dryer
replaced before you can charge it.
