During a repair and oil change visit to my local Volvo dealer, I was told that my 1994 Volvo 850 Sportster wagon needed a transmission flush and fluid change because the present fluid was discolored. When I pointed out that the same dealer had performed this service in August 2004, I was told that Volvo's specs had changed - in 2004 all that was done was that 50% of the fluid was changed and that this year, the pan was removed, the system flushed with a solvent, and 100% of the fluid was changed. I wonder if the dealer, which up to now has done excellent work on my two Volvos, is telling me the truth or just adding unneeded services to the bill? (The car was driven 7,000 miles between transmission fluid changes.) Any informed comments would be appreciated? -- ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Don Whalen Retired at 17 on the Centigrade scale, now happily living in the beautiful Roanoke Valley of Virginia, USA, who says "If I wanted to have a care free garden, I would have planted weeds." |
