Hi

I had the same think the other day on my 93 440Li

ingnition on, click click click click click....
driving along switching everything on and off like a loony, as it sounded
just like a relay

.... click click click click.

finally found it

cassette player going mad with a tape it didn't like, ejected cassette no
more clicking!!!!!

You have a cassette tape in??

very good idea but no tape in. clicking is louder and more erratic - hence
the problem of isolating the sound, it doesn't happen every time I drive the
car!

just another suggestion

try pressing the oddometer (mile counter) reset button, if the thing isn't
reset right they can make a noise, the faster you go the more eratic the
noise!!!

is the noise louder in the car tan the engine bay?

Sounds like it could be a paparazzi infestation. Check the back seat for
unwanted passengers.
