I'd just tap around the edges of the raised tabs and it would pop right out. I think the wagon would be a lot easier to do this in than a sedan since you can get right over the bung and see what you're doing. Also I think the wagons are less prone to rust in that area than sedans. I like using good tools as much as the next guy but I didn't find the screwdriver method all that bad.
